Building on Faith: God’s House of Prayer Begins a New Chapter with Weaver Trucking and Grading
Every great building has a story, and some stories are built on something even stronger than brick and mortar: faith, perseverance, and community. For God’s House of Prayer in Dunn, North Carolina, nearly four decades of growth have led to an exciting new chapter, and Weaver Trucking and Grading is honored to help bring that vision to life.
A Foundation Built on Faith
The story of God’s House of Prayer was established in March 1985, by the late Pastor Bob and Adlay McArthur, when the church first opened its doors in a storefront at 309 E. Broad Street in Dunn, North Carolina. What started in a modest space continued to grow, serving its congregation and building a lasting presence in the community.
In 1990, the church took an important step forward by purchasing the building at 809 E. Broad Street, establishing a new home for its growing ministry. As the years passed, so did the need for more space. In 1998, an addition was completed, expanding the building to include a kitchen, a baptism area, and office spaces to better serve the church and its congregation.
In June 2019, David McCarthur took over as senior pastor, continuing the church’s journey of faith and growth.
But when a church continues to grow, sometimes the building that once felt just right can no longer contain the vision for what comes next.
Growing Beyond Four Walls
Over the years, God’s House of Prayer outgrew its existing facility. With a growing congregation and a vision for the future, the need for a larger, more suitable space became increasingly clear.
The church was blessed with the opportunity to purchase land across town, hoping to build there and create room for the next chapter of its ministry. Unfortunately, those plans did not come to fruition.
Still, the vision for a new beginning remained.
Rather than leave their future behind, God’s House of Prayer is moving forward right where its story has continued for decades — at 809 E. Broad Street in Dunn.
Out with the Old, In with the New!

Our team recently completed a complete demolition of the existing church building, clearing the way for what comes next. While demolition means saying goodbye to a structure that has held years of memories, it also means making room for new opportunities, new memories, and a renewed space for worship and fellowship.
